The Best of 2016.
This is the first time that I’ll be doing this again after 5 years. The last time I made an entry like this was during the first anniversary of my Tumblr in 2012. This is just my opinion, if you feel like there are better options or you disagree with my choices, make your own blog instead. Just kiddin’.
Let’s name some of the best in 2016.
Movie of the Year : Captain America : Civil War
It has a worldwide gross of $1.15B. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture. It is the third installment of the Captain America movies. The first one was Captain America : The First Avenger (2012) followed by Captain America : The Winter Soldier (2014). I don’t wanna sound biased just because Captain America is one of my favorite Marvel characters. I did my research and this movie is the highest grossing movie of 2016 and 12th highest grossing movie of all time.
I believe that this scene sealed the deal. Lol.

Song of the Year : Closer by The Chainsmokers
I’m pretty sure that you’ve heard this song or played this song countless times. This song spent 11 weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100. This is Chainsmokers’ third top 10 single next to Roses and Don’t let me down. It spent 28 weeks in the top 10 since it’s debut on August 2016.

Album of the Year : 25 (Adele)
Well, it is still Adele. The last time I made a list was in 2012 and it was Adele’s 21 album that I declared album of the year. And she did it again for 2016. It was actually released in the last quarter of 2015 but who cares, right? The first day sales in US was $1.4 million.
Breakthrough TV Series of the Year ( International ) : Stranger Things
Released on Netflix last July 2016. Set in the 1980’s, the story revolves around the investigation of the missing young boy. There were 8 episodes for the pilot season. The acting, setting and soundtrack were all praised by the netizens and there was an instant fandom for this TV series. It was renewed for another season by Netflix.
Breakthrough TV Series of the Year ( Local ) : Encantadia 2016
Many of us are aware that this is not the first time that Encantadia aired in the Philippines. The original Encantadia was released May 2005. This is a requel ( retelling / sequel ) of the most watched fantasy TV show in the Philippines. When the new cast was announced, many fans were disappointed and thought that this will not be a hit compared to the original but the ratings and the awards proved otherwise. Encantadia lived up to the hype and success of the original version.
Artist of the Year : Ariana Grande
With the release of her third album, guest role in Scream Queens and her performance in Hairspray Live!, Ari is indeed the It girl of 2016. No more questions asked.
Dance Craze of the Year ( Local ) : Fetty Wap Dance

The song is actually Nobody’s Better by Z feat. Fetty Wap. It was performed by one of the best dance groups in the Philippines, Rockwell. With countless versions performed by local celebrities and Pinoys all around the globe, this is really the dance craze of the year. Even yours truly danced this.
